POSITION SUMMARY:

A Senior Database Administrator / Developer oversees the daily operation, administration and well-being of NWMLS SQL Server database systems. The position designs and builds new table structures, stored procedures and / or refines existing backend systems and applications as needed to support NWMLS business initiatives.

Coordinate and collaborate closely with the Development Team Lead in application development initiatives. Ensure database environments support application development needs, website initiatives, RETS, IDX, ETL and various system integrations. Although this position reports to the IT Director, oversight and job assignments are provided by the Development Team Lead.

JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Support database development initiatives and application development needs in close collaboration and synergy with the Dev Team lead
  • Investigates and troubleshoots complicated database application, and stability issues involving large, sophisticated, and evolving system functions
  • Architects, develops and maintains database disaster recovery plans in conjunction with overall DR initiatives of the Infrastructure team
  • Ensures appropriate security and monitoring of database applications
  • Monitor and conduct performance tuning of applications and databases
  • Develops and maintains change management processes for database applications and adheres to best practices
  • Develops and maintains documentation of IT database processes, procedures, and policies
  • Evaluates new and emerging software and other technologies that pertain to database needs
  • Act as backup to the Development Team Lead and vice versa to help eliminate single points of failure
  • Keeps Director of IT informed of project progress, potentially controversial matters, and any far-reaching implications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from an accredited college or university; or equivalent education/experience in the computer science field
  • Minimum 10 years of SQL Server Database Administration and application development experience, from the user interface to n-tier design, SQL Server relational database layout and development.
  • Strong experience in using: SQL and T-SQL, C#, ASP.Net, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, XML, and JSON.
  • Strong understanding of application security, load balancing, app monitoring, and troubleshooting.
  • Excellent organizational skills, detail oriented
  • Communicates effectively and thoroughly with IT Development Team Lead, Infrastructure Supervisor and all other employees as appropriate
  • Maintains professional, positive, and supportive demeanor and attitude toward co-workers, and members as appropriate
